Heavy Equipment Operator

Soiland Co., Inc. is hiring a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at our Stony Point Rock Quarry location in Cotati, California!

We are looking for candidates who have some maintenance skills, any level of welding and fabrication experience, and at least 1 year of recent experience operating earth-moving heavy equipment such as a Haul Truck, Loader, Dozer, and Excavator.

This position will support the company in a range of tasks, including but not limited to daily plant & yard maintenance and assisting site operations using heavy equipment to process aggregate material.

The ideal candidate will have experience in operating earth-moving heavy equipment, have a positive attitude, great work habits, and the ability to work as a team as well as independently.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Perform outdoor plant and yard maintenance/cleanup tasks as needed.
  • Ability to operate earth-moving heavy equipment in the production and processing of material in a safe manner consistent with standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain alertness to audio and visual signs in order to make timely and sound decisions while operating equipment.
  • Participate in training and follow all safety policies and procedures.

Required Skills:

  • Must be able to climb into and out of equipment multiple times per day.
  • Must be able to work from heights while harnessed for fall protection and safety.
  • Ability to deliver quality work on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to work in safe and efficient manner, knowing where other objects are in-relation to piece of equipment being operated.
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills with the ability to speak and understand English.

Physical Requirements:

This position works outdoors with exposure to the weather, chemicals, odors and fumes; bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders and stairs; working on elevated platforms; pushing, pulling, moving moderate to heavy objects; ability to operate electrical and mechanical equipment; standing for long periods of time; walking; and driving a motorized piece of heavy equipment in order to perform the essential functions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older and provide evidence of employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening (pre-employment physical exam including drug testing).
  • In order to operate a SCI company vehicle: A valid California driver’s license and a driving record with 2 points or less.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • This position is a non-exempt full-time position.
  • The pay for this position is depending on experience.
  • We offer weekly pay, paid holidays, PTO, health benefits (medical, dental, & vision) with employer contribution of 100% for employee and 75% for eligible dependents. We offer Long Term Disability and Life Insurance at no cost to the employee. We also have 401(k) with a guaranteed 3% Safe Harbor employer contribution.
