A bioswale is a permanent, shallow landscape depression or channel used to direct stormwater to infiltration areas or engineered containment systems. Bioswales use Low Impact Development (LID) management practices – vegetated swales combine the benefits of organic matter and gravity to physically filter stormwater pollutants before they reach streams and natural water resources.
Soiland Bioswale meets the Bay Area Stormwater Management Agencies Associations (BASMAA) soil specifications for Bioretention Soil Media. BASMAA recognized the need for a bioretention soil product which allows stormwater runoff to infiltrate while providing sufficient moisture retention to support healthy vegetation. Soiland Bioswale is designed to meet these critical elements of the bioretention system.
